LAND AND LAND OWNERSHIP

Land ownership in an education-centered metaverse needs to have multiple layers of security and credentials. An educational institution claiming their own name and space in Polyversity will need to verify their authenticity in order to purchase land to create their virtual campus.

There are two main types of land in Polyversity - the Mainland and the Islands. The mainland comprises the core of Polyversity, with the Genesis Plaza being the space where all new avatars materialize- it comprises a central hub with 6 buildings that are responsible for the head offices of Polyversity institutions as well as large corporates and universities. This land is available on a first-come-first served basis and has the highest value in Polyversity owing to it's relative scarcity.

Islands are leased to all types of institutions and individuals

All islands and parcels in the Polyversity universe will be NFTs based on smart contracts that provide absolute ownership of the land parcel. These ownership certificates are transferable (in case the institution or business wishes to appoint a different person, or the original owner retires or moves on) and each transfer will be recorded on the chain. Land parcels can also be sold or leased to others.

Land owners are the only user profile in Polyversity who have the ability to purchase land in the metaverse. This process is also applied to anyone who wishes to purchase land on behalf of their educational institution, business, NGO, creator studio or privately.

Land owners have complete creative control over the parcels they buy- pretty much all the privileges or a World Administrator, but specific only to the parcels they own. Land owners are responsible for the landscaping, architecture, security, communication and upkeep of their parcels. It is possible for a land owner to be the agent for multiple parcels, and it is they who will be responsible for its overall maintenance and upkeep. They will be paying the monthly rentals for each of their parcels.

Land Owners can also set specific per-parcel and per-plot permissions such as limiting the ability for avatars to fly, rez objects in the parcel, rent out parts of the parcel, host public events or keep areas private. These permissions are customizable based on plots within the parcel.
